NASA Glenn Invites Public Inside to Celebrate 75th Anniversary, May 21 and 22 and Plumb Brook Station in Sandusky June 11 and 12th

NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland will celebrate its 75th anniversary beginning in January 2016. To commemorate the occasion, the center recently announced open house dates and unveiled its 75th anniversary logo.

The logo features an image of the center’s distinctive airplane hangar, a symbolic orbital trajectory, and the message “Our Past. Our Present. Your Future.”

“Throughout our history, Glenn has been leading aerospace development for the nation and industry. Almost every aircraft and spacecraft today contains Glenn technology,” said Center Director Jim Free. “The anniversary logo is a fitting image to represent our 75 years of aeronautics and space accomplishments.”

The center will host multiple events throughout its anniversary year, including two open houses. Glenn’s Lewis Field main campus will open to the public May 21 and 22, and Plum Brook Station in Sandusky, Ohio, will hold its open house June 11 and 12.

(There’s no open house like a NASA OPEN HOUSE!  This will be an experience you’ll long remember. Much to see and do. Very interactive and educational. K8CMD)

A note from ARRL Ohio Section Section Manager: Scott D Yonally, N8SY

Hi everyone, I wanted to bring you up to speed on the Dayton On the Air event that the Ohio Section will be doing during the Dayton Hamvention. We are still looking for volunteers to mind the store between 12 & 2 on Friday,
and 10 & 2 on Saturday. Saturday AM is really important as that Saturday is a very busy day for everyone and we definitely need to have this booth staffed. If you are able to take an hour or so out of your busy schedule, we would greatly appreciate your help with this big project. The site is at 22 South Williams Street, in Dayton; about 6 miles from Hara Arena. There appears to be a parking area in the rear. I’ll be there around 8 AM each day to set up the stations, and again around 4:30 – 5:00 to tear down If you know anyone who may want to do a couple hours at the site, please ask them to contact John, KD8MQ at kd8mq1@gmail.com

73, for now.. Scott..
